Do you think think the "genre" (for lack of a better word") is being pigeonholed into being wholesome, and if so why do you think that's the case and is there a way for these kinds of games to break out of what's expected from them and reach some form of mainstream success? Seeing as I'm not part of the LGBT community, nor do I play games for them, I only have anecdotal evidence of this. This got me thinking since I did have this thought in mind for a while but I never saw anyone point this out until now. Apparently this has spring boarded the conversation about how games that are made specifically for an LGBT playerbase are pigeonholed into having the games being wholesome and without much edge. This has caused the voice actor for the character Octopimp, and the devs of the game to get viciously harassed for this. So if you don't know a game called Boyfriend Dungeon is getting a lot of flack because the games main villain is a stalker emotional manipulator and that the games content warning did not properly address this.
